Excellent, but........
Despite the poor acoustics of the facility, the company and orchestra still did an incredible job, rendering most of the lyrics unintelligible. We enjoyed it tremendously, anticipating a joyous exit to the strains of the overture until the finale. We were confronted instead by an onstage 'commercial' to donate to a cause, which was such an ill-timed downer that we exited quickly, as did many others. Had there been an insert in the program or a pitch during the intermission, we would have supported the cause. Instead, we left on an anticlimactic and disappointing note. Poor planning, folks!
